The House of Representatives is set to vote on a constitutional amendment bill seeking to establish state police during its plenary session on Thursday.
The Deputy Speaker of the House and Chairman of the Constitution Review Committee, Benjamin Kalu, made this known on Wednesday while speaking with journalists in Abuja.
He urged all lawmakers to be present at the session, stressing the importance of full participation in the voting process on the proposed amendment.
If passed, the bill would pave the way for the creation of state-controlled police forces as part of efforts to reform Nigeria’s security architecture.
