Senate President Godswill Akpabio has alleged that recent cases of kidnapping and killings across the country are being sponsored by individuals seeking to undermine the achievements of President Bola Tinubu's administration.
Akpabio made the claim on Tuesday while speaking at the commissioning of road projects in Abuja to mark the President’s third anniversary in office.
According to him, critics who can no longer fault the government's projects and reforms have turned to creating insecurity in an attempt to portray the country in a negative light.
He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant, stating that some kidnappers are carrying out abductions to create the impression that Nigeria is unsafe.
The Senate President also praised the efforts of security agencies and expressed confidence that those responsible for the criminal acts would be defeated.
His remarks come amid recent abductions in Oyo and Borno states, where several schoolchildren, students and teachers are still being held captive by their abductors.
