An educationist and administrator, Alhaji Okanlomo Aliu Adio Onsa, has declared his intention to contest the Imeko-Afon State Constituency seat in the Ogun State House of Assembly in the 2027 general election.
Aliu, who described himself as a seasoned public servant with a verifiable track record, said his decision followed extensive consultations with key stakeholders across the constituency, including elders, youths, women, farmers, traders and traditional institutions.
He said the move was driven by what he described as “overwhelming encouragement and acceptability” from the people of Imeko-Afon.
The aspirant pledged to provide quality, fairness and people-centred representation, stressing his commitment to amplifying the voices of his constituents in the state legislature.
“My aspiration is anchored on building a legislature that reflects our collective yearnings for justice, equity and development through laws that work for everyone, especially our rural and border communities that have been neglected for too long,” he said.
He outlined a four-point legislative agenda focusing on education, socio-economic and manpower development, healthcare and social welfare, as well as infrastructure and inclusive governance.
On education, he said he would advocate for affordable and quality schooling, alongside improved learning environments. He also pledged to sponsor bills to support micro-enterprises, promote skill acquisition and empower youths, women and artisans.
Speaking on healthcare, the aspirant said he would push for the upgrade of primary healthcare centres, improved maternal and child care, and enhanced welfare for vulnerable groups.
He further emphasised the need for infrastructural development, including rural roads, potable water and modern markets, while promising to institutionalise regular town hall meetings to ensure inclusive governance.
“This is not about handouts. It is about enduring legislation that expands opportunity from the grassroots and restores the dignity of our people,” he added.
Aliu expressed optimism that the 2027 election presents an opportunity for the people of Imeko-Afon to elect a prepared and committed representative focused on fairness and progress. He reaffirmed his readiness to serve the constituency.
