Kano Police Deploy Officers for NLC Protest Against Insecurity

The Kano State Police Command has deployed officers across the state to ensure a peaceful protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) scheduled for Wednesday.

The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, disclosed this on Tuesday during a telephone interview with journalists. He said the deployment is aimed at guaranteeing the safety of protesters and preventing any breach of public order.

According to him, police personnel have been stationed at strategic locations, including protest routes and key public buildings, to maintain law and order throughout the demonstration.

Bakori reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting citizens’ constitutional right to peaceful assembly, while also safeguarding lives and property.

He added that the police are working closely with NLC officials to ensure the protest is conducted smoothly and without incident.

The NLC plans to stage a peaceful march in Kano as part of its nationwide protest over prevailing economic challenges.
