MAPOLY Expels 365 Students Over Forged Academic Credentials

Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, has expelled 365 students for gaining admission into the institution with fake academic documents.

The affected students, who were admitted into various Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes, were found to have submitted forged National Diploma (ND) results and fake academic transcripts from different institutions.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Polytechnic's Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Mr. Yemi Ajibola.

According to the statement, the students were expelled following a thorough verification of credentials submitted during the admission and registration processes.

The institution said the move was part of its efforts to uphold academic standards and enforce its zero tolerance policy against examination malpractice, document forgery, and other forms of academic misconduct.

A breakdown of the expelled students showed that 156 were from the School of Communication and Information Technology, 117 from the School of Business and Management Studies, 54 from the School of Science and Technology, 36 from the School of Engineering, and two from the School of Environmental Studies.

The Rector of the Polytechnic, Arc. Dr. Koye Jolaoso, warned prospective applicants against using fake credentials to secure admission into the institution.

He said the action demonstrates the institution's commitment to academic integrity, excellence, transparency, and professionalism.

Jolaoso added that the Polytechnic would continue to maintain high standards and ensure that only qualified candidates are admitted into its programmes.
