Yayi obtains APC governorship nomination forms for 2027 Elections

The lawmaker representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has formally entered the race for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election after picking up the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination forms valued at ₦50 million.

The forms were reportedly obtained on his behalf, marking a significant step in his bid to succeed Governor Dapo Abiodun at the end of his administration.

At the APC national secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday, the party’s National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu, officially flagged off the sale of nomination materials and handed over the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to a representative acting for the senator.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Saturday, January 16, 2027, for the Presidential and National Assembly elections, while governorship and State Houses of Assembly polls will hold on Saturday, March 6, 2027.

According to the electoral timetable, party primaries and the resolution of disputes arising from them are scheduled to take place between April 23 and May 30, 2026.

INEC also stated that campaigns for the Presidential and National Assembly elections will commence on August 19, 2026, while governorship and state assembly campaigns are expected to begin on September 9, 2026.
