Gov. Sanwo-Olu Approves Recruitment of 150 Firefighters

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the recruitment of 150 firefighters to improve emergency response across Lagos State.

The Comptroller of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, made this known in a statement on Wednesday.

She said the recruitment shows the state government’s continued commitment to building a strong and well-trained fire and rescue service capable of responding quickly to emergencies.

Ms Adeseye explained that the recruitment follows earlier exercises carried out by the Sanwo-Olu administration, including the hiring of 100 firefighters in 2020 and 435 firefighters in 2022, the largest single recruitment in the service’s history.

She added that the newly recruited firefighters, employed in November 2025, have resumed intensive training at the upgraded LSFRS Fire Academy. They are currently undergoing professional training to prepare them for active service.

The comptroller reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to investing in personnel development, modern facilities, and equipment to ensure the safety of lives and property across the state.
