Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has pledged to mobilise two million votes from Ogun State for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in the 2027 presidential election.
Adeola made the pledge on Saturday while speaking at the official inauguration of the Ogun State Executive Council of the City Boys Movement at the Ake Palace Pavilion, Abeokuta.
The Senator said the target was aimed at demonstrating the people’s appreciation for what the Tinubu administration had done for Ogun State and securing continued support for the President’s re-election bid.
“We are targeting two million votes for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as a way of showing our appreciation for what the President has done for us in Ogun State,” he said.
Adeola further described President Tinubu’s interventions in Ogun State as significant, saying the people of the state would continue to support the administration.
“President Tinubu has been so magnanimous to us in Ogun State, he has delivered monumental infrastructure for us, we will stand by him, support him, and deliver Ogun State for him come January 2027,” he said.
The Senator said Ogun State had witnessed several developmental projects and interventions under the Tinubu administration, which, according to him, deserved the support and appreciation of the people.
He particularly highlighted the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road, which passes through Ogun State, saying the project had the potential to boost economic activities and create new opportunities for the people of the state.
The Senator also mentioned the Sokoto-Badagry road project as another major Federal Government intervention expected to have a positive impact on Ogun State.
According to him, the projects and other interventions by the Federal Government demonstrated the importance of supporting the Tinubu administration.
Adeola further said the people of Ogun State had every reason to appreciate the President for what he described as significant interventions in the state since the administration came into office.
He also highlighted developments and interventions benefiting communities in areas including Ogun Waterside, Imeko-Afon and other parts of the state, saying such projects would contribute to economic growth and development across the state.
Speaking on youth participation, Adeola noted that young people constituted a significant percentage of those who attended the inauguration, attributing their support partly to the administration’s efforts in the education sector, including access to student loans through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
He therefore urged members of the City Boys Movement, grassroots supporters and other stakeholders to strengthen their mobilisation efforts and work collectively towards achieving the two-million-vote target for President Tinubu in Ogun State in the 2027 presidential election.
The inauguration was attended by several dignitaries, including Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, who was represented by his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele; Minister of State for Health, Dr. Ishaq Salako; Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi; former Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Taiwo; and Honourables from Lagos State.
The event also attracted youths, especially students from across Ogun State, media organisations and other dignitaries.
