Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has called for justice and due process as he marks 212 days in detention.
El-Rufai made the call in a post shared on his official social media platforms on Wednesday, expressing concern over his prolonged detention.
A flyer accompanying the post stated that detention should not become punishment before judgment, while stressing that due process is not a privilege.
El-Rufai has been in detention since February 18, following an investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) into alleged N432 billion financial impropriety involving the Kaduna State Government.
The ICPC has said the former governor is being held based on a court remand order.
He was briefly released in March to attend the burial of his late mother. In a previous interview, El-Rufai also acknowledged tapping the telephone of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
