Motorists, commuters and residents have appealed to Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, to complete the second phase of the Mowe-Ofada Road project to improve road safety and ease transportation.
They said the uncompleted section has caused traffic congestion, frequent vehicle breakdowns and increased transportation costs, despite the successful reconstruction of the first phase.
A commercial driver, Johnson Fadeyi, while speaking with journalists, said the bad portion of the road had reduced the number of trips he makes daily and increased vehicle maintenance costs.
"We face serious challenges on this road, especially during the rainy season. I appeal to the governor to complete the project as soon as possible," he said.
A commuter, Bimpe Olaitan, said passengers endure unnecessary delays and hardship, while transporter Kadiri Bala noted that the poor road had slowed the movement of goods and affected businesses in Mowe, Ofada and neighbouring communities.
Also, a resident, Sunday Famuyiwa, urged the government to carry out temporary repairs on the damaged portions pending the completion of the project.
The residents expressed confidence in the state government's commitment to infrastructure development, saying the completion of the road would improve transportation, boost economic activities and enhance the lives of people using the route daily.
