Katsina Assembly Approves ₦1bn for Regional Security Trust Fund

The Katsina State House of Assembly has approved a ₦1 billion contribution to the Regional Security Trust Fund aimed at strengthening security across northern Nigeria.

The approval followed the consideration of a request forwarded by Governor Umar Dikko Radda, in line with constitutional procedures.

The Speaker of the House, Nasir Yahaya-Daura, announced the resolution after the Majority Leader, Shamsudden Abubakar Dabai, presented the governor’s correspondence during plenary.

According to the proposal, the state government will contribute ₦300 million, while the 34 local government councils are expected to provide ₦700 million to the security fund.

Lawmakers unanimously supported the request after deliberation and directed the Clerk of the House to transmit the resolution to the executive arm for implementation.

In a related development, the Assembly also called for urgent intervention on the erosion affecting the Eka–Kadandani–Kuraye–Yargamji road, describing the situation as a threat to transportation and community access.

The member representing Charanci Constituency, Lawal Isah-Kuraye, noted that the road was constructed in 2017 under the administration of former Governor Aminu Masari.

The motion received support from members who urged swift action to prevent further environmental and infrastructural damage.
