Ojude Oba 2026: Ogun Police Deploy 2,500 Officers for Security

The Ogun State Police Command says it will deploy about 2,500 personnel, alongside specialised operational equipment, to provide security for the 2026 Ojude Oba Festival in Ijebu-Ode.

The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, noting that the deployment is part of proactive measures aimed at ensuring a safe and peaceful celebration.

He explained that the operatives will include personnel from the Police Mobile Force, SWAT, the Violent Crime Response Unit, and other tactical units. Armoured vehicles, patrol vans, motorcycles, surveillance teams, undercover operatives, and rapid response squads will also be deployed across key locations in the state.

According to him, security will be extended to the festival ground, major roads, entry and exit points, hotels, worship centres, markets, motor parks, and residential areas to ensure effective crowd control and quick response to any security concerns.

Ojajuni added that all area commanders and divisional officers have been placed on high alert, with intensified patrols and stop-and-search operations along strategic routes such as the Sagamu Interchange and the Ijebu-Ode–Benin Expressway.

He also urged residents and visitors to remain law-abiding and security conscious throughout the festival period, assuring that the command remains fully committed to safeguarding lives and property.
