The Lagos State Police Command has unveiled comprehensive security measures ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration, assuring residents and visitors of a safe and peaceful festive period.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Lagos, noting that the operation was designed to guarantee a hitch-free celebration across the state.
According to her, the deployment followed directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, and the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Olohundare Jimoh.
Adebisi explained that the security plan involves the mobilisation of conventional police officers, tactical units, intelligence operatives, and marine police personnel to secure both land and waterways.
She added that the initiative is supported by a strengthened intelligence network aimed at detecting and preventing potential threats before, during, and after the festivities.
The spokesperson further stated that Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and heads of tactical formations had been directed to intensify patrols, particularly in densely populated and identified high-risk areas.
She emphasised that officers have also been instructed to maintain professionalism while ensuring a visible and reassuring presence in communities across the state.
On traffic management, Adebisi said personnel had been strategically stationed along major highways, inner roads, and congestion-prone locations to ease vehicular movement during the celebration.
She noted that adequate security arrangements had been made at Eid prayer grounds, mosques, markets, recreational centres, and other public spaces expected to witness large gatherings.
Reiterating the command’s commitment to public safety, Adebisi urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station. She also provided emergency contact lines for quick response: 07061019374, 08065154338, 08063299264, and 08039344870.
