Ogun APC re-elects Yemi Sanusi as Chairman at State Congress

Chief Yemi Sanusi has been re-elected as the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State following the party’s state congress held on Tuesday at the Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta.

Sanusi, who emerged unopposed, was returned through a consensus arrangement ratified by a voice vote of delegates present at the congress.

The exercise was conducted peacefully under the supervision of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission and members of the party’s national committee.

In his acceptance speech, Sanusi dedicated his re-election to the leadership of the party, Governor Dapo Abiodun, and members of the APC across the state for the confidence reposed in him.

He pledged to run an inclusive administration that would accommodate all stakeholders and further strengthen the unity of the party.

Sanusi said, “I am deeply humbled by this renewed mandate to continue steering the affairs of our great party in Ogun State. This is not a victory for me alone, but for the progressive ideals we represent. We will ensure an inclusive administration that accommodates every stakeholder and keeps our party united ahead of future elections.”

Sanusi’s first tenure was marked by efforts to consolidate the party’s structure following internal disagreements within the state chapter.

Party leaders and chieftains who attended the congress commended his leadership style, describing it as a major factor in fostering unity and stability within the party.

The Returning Officer for the congress, Hon. Wale Ohu, declared the exercise free and fair and conducted in line with the party’s constitution. He urged the newly elected executive to prioritise unity as the party prepares for future electoral contests.
