Gov. Uzodimma Calls for Fairness, Unity Ahead of Imo APC Congress

Governor Hope Uzodimma has urged stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State to uphold discipline, unity, and plan for leadership succession ahead of the party’s ward and local government congresses on Friday.

He made the call during a meeting with party representatives from the 305 wards and 27 local government areas, held at the Government House, Owerri.

Uzodimma praised party leaders, members, and the State Working Committee for strengthening the APC, highlighting the party’s growth since 2020. He noted that all three senators representing Imo, the majority of House of Representatives and State Assembly members, as well as all local government chairmen and councillors, are now APC members.

The governor emphasized that not every stakeholder would win positions in the upcoming congresses, urging everyone to remain loyal and committed to the party.

“Our strength lies in unity, sacrifice, and loyalty. Some will emerge, some will not. But everyone must continue to support the party,” he said.

Describing the ward congresses as the foundation of the APC in the state, Uzodimma called for a transparent and peaceful exercise. He confirmed that party officials from Abuja would supervise the process and warned that irregularities would not be tolerated.

“I will monitor the process very closely. Nobody is my friend or relative when it comes to ensuring a credible exercise. What matters is fairness and integrity,” he added.

Uzodimma urged members to return to their local government areas, stay focused, and help ensure the party emerges stronger and more united.
“Imo must move forward. Let us conduct our meetings peacefully and ensure that our party remains united and victorious,” he said.
