Operatives of the Department of State Services have arrested former Nasir El-Rufai shortly after he was granted bail by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
According to Premium Times, Mr El-Rufai was released at about 8pm on Wednesday after meeting his bail conditions.
However, he was immediately re-arrested by DSS operatives at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja.
Sources said the operatives were already at the premises before taking him into custody.
His arrest is reportedly linked to allegations that he unlawfully intercepted the phone communications of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
As of the time of filing this report, the DSS had yet to issue an official statement on the development.
