NYO solidarity walk for Yayi not about money, but youth inclusion in governance, says Comrade Saka

The Chairman of the Nigeria Youth Organisation (NYO), Ogun State Chapter, Comrade Saka Olanrewaju, has said the organisation’s solidarity walk in support of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, was not about financial gain, but about promoting youth inclusion and participation in governance.

The solidarity walk, which held on Tuesday, started from Oke-Mosan and proceeded to the All Progressives Congress (APC) Secretariat at Iyana Mortuary, Abeokuta, before ending at Senator Adeola’s campaign office in Omida, Abeokuta.

Speaking at the campaign office, Olanrewaju said the walk was organised to highlight the aspirations of young people, particularly their desire for appointments, empowerment and greater participation in governance.

According to him, “The purpose of this walk is for us to be recognised for appointments, empowerment and inclusive governance. We want the government and political leaders to understand that young people are ready and capable of contributing meaningfully to governance.”

The NYO chairman also expressed appreciation to the organisation’s executive members for their unwavering support for the initiative. He equally appreciated its Life Patron, Hon. Akinbode Joseph Adelani (Omoakin); Hon. Amb. Aduke Mariam, DG, Kings and Queens, People Living with Disability; Hon. Ajeigbe, Senior Consultant to the Ogun State Governor; Hon. Mudashiru Olanrewaju Quadri, Senior Consultant to the Ogun State Governor; and Hon. Taiwo Olusegun, State Coordinator, NYAT, Ogun State Chapter, as well as everyone who participated in the solidarity walk.

Olanrewaju further urged youths to remain patient and continue to persevere, saying that meaningful progress often requires sacrifice.

He said, “Nothing in this life comes easily without sacrifice. We must continue to persevere and remain patient because tomorrow will be better than today.”

In the same vein, the Director of Administration, YAYICO, Pharmacy Hon. Olalekan Asuni of the Yayi campaign organisation commended the NYO Ogun State Chapter for the initiative, describing the solidarity walk as a demonstration of the capacity and courage of young people.

He noted that the NYO successfully organised the walk without being funded by anyone, adding that the initiative had shown that youth participation in politics should not be measured only in financial terms.

“As for me, NYO Ogun State Chapter deserves to be appreciated. This has made us understand that youth participation is not just about money, but also about demonstrating capacity, courage and a genuine desire to contribute to governance,” he said.
