The Nigerian Youths Organization (NYO), Ogun State Chapter, is set to mobilise no fewer than 10,000 youths from across the state for a solidarity walk in support of Senator Adedola Olamilekan Solomon, popularly known as Yayi, ahead of the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.
The solidarity walk, tagged “NYO for Yayi: Ogun Youths Are Taking Over Abeokuta,” is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, with participants expected to converge at the Governor’s Office Gate, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, by 8:00 a.m.
The participants will thereafter proceed from Oke-Mosan to Senator Yayi’s office in Omida, Abeokuta, in what the organisers described as a major youth mobilisation exercise.
Speaking on the planned mobilisation, the Chairman of NYO, Ogun State Chapter, Comrade Saka Olanrewaju, said the walk was aimed at demonstrating the political strength of Ogun youths and their support for leaders who promote youth inclusion and participation in governance.
“Senator Yayi represents a strong voice for youth inclusion in Ogun politics. He understands that young people should not only be mobilised during elections but should also be active participants in the political and governance process. That is why Ogun youths are coming together to identify with his vision and political aspiration ahead of 2027,” Olanrewaju said.
He said the planned mobilisation goes beyond a solidarity walk, describing it as a statement on the growing role of youths in the political affairs of the state.
“We are mobilising 10,000 youths because we want to demonstrate that the youths of Ogun State are politically conscious, organised and ready to play a meaningful role in determining the future of our state. We believe Senator Yayi has the capacity to champion greater youth inclusion, empowerment and opportunities for young people in Ogun State,” the NYO chairman stated.
Olanrewaju called on youths across the 20 local government areas of Ogun State to participate in the exercise, describing it as an opportunity for young people to make their voices heard ahead of the 2027 election.
The planned mobilisation is also expected to express support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term in office.
According to the organisers, the walk will bring together youths from different communities and local government areas, with the aim of strengthening youth participation and visibility in the political process.
The NYO said the mobilisation reflects the growing importance of youths in shaping political conversations and the future leadership of the state and the country.
The organisers further urged youths, political stakeholders and supporters to participate in the exercise as the group prepares for what it described as a major youth mobilisation ahead of the 2027 political season.
