Ex-Lagos Councillor Bamidele Agbaje Commends Tinubu’s Leadership, Urges States to Align with Federal Vision

Former Lagos Mainland Councillor, Hon. Bamidele Ishola Agbaje, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership while calling on state governments to align their development strategies with the federal government’s vision for national growth and stability.

Agbaje, who once served under the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and later as Special Adviser to the Chairman of Lagos Mainland Local Government, Hon. Kolawole Jubril Emilagba, spoke in an interview with Edunright Media correspondents. His tenure as Special Adviser ended in August 2025.

He urged governors across Nigeria to strengthen collaboration with the federal government, especially in the areas of infrastructure and security.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured us that we are getting to the turning point,” Agbaje said. “What we need now is continuity and alignment between the federal and state levels. When security is good, the economy will improve, investors will come, and farmers will go back to their farms.”

The former councillor criticised some states for lagging behind in infrastructural development, noting that Ogun State still struggles with poor road networks in areas such as Ota and Idiroko.

“Governors must key into the federal vision. Look at Lagos — the BRT was originated by Tinubu, implemented by Fashola, and expanded by Sanwo-Olu. The railway project started under Buhari and is still improving. This shows that leadership is a continuity project,” he stated.

Agbaje urged governors to replicate such collaborative development at the state level and work collectively to address insecurity through stronger regional initiatives like Amotekun.

“Governors should unite, empower Amotekun, and ensure terrorists do not take over our land. Once there is security, everything else will grow,” he added.

He expressed confidence that the Tinubu-led administration would eventually deliver on its promises, describing the current period as “a necessary process toward rebuilding the nation.”
